C-Note Tonic
Fretboard Conditioner
One formula. Every fretboard. No compromises.
2 fl oz / 59 mL
Formulated for the instrument you refuse to neglect.
C-Note Tonic began with a simple frustration: every conditioner on the market was either too heavy, left residue, or was formulated for furniture — not for the wood under your fingertips. We spent two years developing a formula that works the way a fretboard actually needs it to. The result is a conditioner that disappears into the grain, leaving nothing behind but a board that plays exactly as it should.
What's inside
The formula.
Unrefined Lemon Oil
Primary ConditionerCold-pressed and unrefined, our lemon oil penetrates deeply without the volatility of refined versions. It nourishes without over-saturating, making it safe for repeated use on rosewood, ebony, and pau ferro.
Carnauba Wax
Surface ProtectantThe hardest natural wax available. A micro-thin layer seals the conditioned wood against humidity swings, oxidation, and the oils from your hands — without adding any perceptible feel to the board.
Vitamin E (Tocopherol)
Antioxidant StabilizerPrevents the oils in the formula from going rancid and extends the conditioning effect long after application. Also helps slow the natural oxidation of the wood itself.
Fractionated Coconut Oil
Carrier & ConditionerLightweight and fully absorbed, fractionated coconut oil carries the active ingredients deep into the grain while adding its own conditioning properties. Leaves zero residue.
Application
How to use it
Every 3–6 months, or whenever the board looks or feels dry.
Remove the strings
Full access to the fretboard is essential. Remove all strings and set them aside — or use this as an opportunity to restring with a fresh set.
Clean the board
Wipe down the fretboard with a dry microfiber cloth. For heavier buildup, use a soft brass brush along the fret slots before wiping. The board should be clean and dry before applying.
Apply sparingly
Apply 2–3 drops to a clean cloth — not directly to the wood. Work it into the board in the direction of the grain, covering each fret section fully. A little goes a long way.
Allow to absorb
Let the formula absorb for 3–5 minutes. You'll see the wood darken slightly as it drinks in the conditioner. This is normal and expected.
Wipe and restring
Wipe away any remaining surface oil with a clean dry cloth. Restring and play. The difference in feel is immediate — smoother, faster, more responsive.
Compatibility
Works on every unfinished fretboard
Do not use on maple fretboards with a gloss finish — the formula is designed for bare, unfinished wood only.
Results
The proof is in the grain.
A single application of C-Note Tonic restores moisture, color, and feel to even the most neglected fretboards. The before and after speaks for itself.
